Stop Press: No Immunity for Telecoms

Chris Dodd's campaign says the Judiciary Committee has reported out a FISA reform bill without retroactive immunity for telecommunication companies that cooperated with federal agencies to spy on Americans. This development is a victory for those Senators protecting our right to privacy like Chris Dodd. I am sure the Senator from Connecticut is feeling relieved as the need for a filibuster is getting less likely. Of course admendments will be introduced on the floor to give the Regime and big business what it wants. But gathering sixty votes to give legal immunity to companies that are being sued by civil rights advocates to expose the extent of illegal domestic spying is an uphill political battle.
