The National Marine Fisheries finally decided to place these beautiful and intelligent marine mammals on the endangered species list. The Cook Inlet population of whales in one of the smallest on Earth due to increasing industrialization of Alaska's coasts. The regime did not act until NRDC and other environmental groups filed suit to force a decision.
