New York Times shows new COVID-19 deaths are declining. This trend should continue if residents continue to receive vaccinations on a mass scale. So far an estimated 110 million people in the US have contracted the virus, and another 33 million have been vaccinated at least once. Those numbers account for about 43% of all residents, which may be enough to slow the virus spread. Achieving herd immunity is generally thought to be in the 70-80% range
