'Toontime: Next Stop, Margaritaville

Being President of the United States has become mostly a public relations job. With a deadlocked legislature captured by lobbyists, and a conservative lifetime cabal in control of the Supremes, a president who even has a coherent progressive economic policy, or any other policy, has little chance to pass real change. The Panic of 2008 was the crony capitalists coup de gras against the state when they successfully extorted billions of dollars from the government to save themselves from their own avarice. What remains of the national economy is a train wreck of debt, monetary devaluation, high commodity prices and low employment. As the cartoons suggest, distraction by simplistic sloganeering is all that plutocrats on both sides offer.
