More Lies at the Border

After the failure of his autogolpe on January 6th, Killer went to the border yesterday to spew more lies and claims of victory, but as usual the facts dispell his lies. The chart here shows that detentions doubled over 2018, but the drop in detentions is attributed to the pandemic, not the wall:

The rest of the $15 billion he has spent has gone toward upgrading existing barriers extending approximately 450 miles. Mexico did not pay a dime for his wall, despite his promises that 'Mexico would pay for it." In fact Mexico's President Enrique Pena Nieto told Killer to get lost, in polite terms of course. As critics have said the wall is mostly a wasteful PR stunt intended to satisfy his nativist supporters, not solve the problem of illegal immigration. Biden has said his administration would not continue erecting barriers, but what will be done with existing construction contracts is not yet clear. Cancellations could cost the governement additional millions.
